My students need 7 copies of The Knight at Dawn, 7 copies of Pilgrims, the nonfiction companion for the story Thanksgiving on a Thursday, and other high-interest stories.
"Reading is toad-ally frog-tastic!" This is a quote heard often around my classroom, because reading is fun in our room!
I teach twenty-five eager readers at a high-need, public, Title I school, in a quaint little town in Indiana.
My students love science and being math detectives, but their favorite subject of all is reading. My classroom is decorated like a frog pond. From our lily pad (bean bags) to our class mascot Verde the frog, my little kiddos are happy being green! In our room, all of the students have developed a love of nonfiction and the Magic Tree House series; here is where I need your help.
My Project
I am requesting one set The Knight at Dawn, one set of Pilgrims, the nonfiction companion book to Thanksgiving on a Thursday, and some high-interest lower level readers. These books are library bound, which means they will be able to last for many years to come. My current small reading group books have been read, again and again, by so many little hands that they are simply in tatters.
Today a student was reading a book when pages began to fall out of it all over the floor.
Books from my classroom library, known as 'The Pond' by my students, are in such high demand and read so often, they are literally falling apart in the students' hands. Your donation will make sure that my little froglets are given the quality fiction and nonfiction literature they crave. Reading makes my little froglets hoppy, and the would love to learn more about medieval times, pilgrims, and more!
