My Students

We are a curious bunch of scholars. We come from diverse backgrounds with a variety of life experiences. Many of us receive free or reduced-price lunch, which is based on our family's low income.

We are always eager to contribute to our classroom environment.

We like exploring, asking questions, and using our ideas to work on projects, experiment with materials, build structures, and present our knowledge. We love to figure out how things work, research interesting topics, and share our own knowledge.

My Project

This project is a request for books to support guided reading, close reading and writing instruction. My scholars are learning to thoroughly read texts, answer questions thoughtfully, and defend their responses in writing. These resources will help me provide my scholars with grade level texts, rich vocabulary, and complex text structures to encourage a deeper understanding of literacy.

My scholars love to engage in text discussions.

By using close reading, all of my scholars are able to access the text regardless of ability. During guided reading, I am able to support my scholars with developing reading skills at their current level. The quality reading passages requested will help to give my scholars text for writing responses.

Writing is a very important part of literacy development. As my scholars continue to work on strengthening comprehension skills, they are also learning to explain their thinking through writing. I will use the books to help create text dependent questions and teach strategies for my scholars to write evidenced based responses.
