My Project

As a student teacher who is part of the BIPOC community, I experienced very little representation of the community in Early Childhood Classrooms. Providing these necessary books will give students the confidence and the proper support to feel welcomed and safe. Not only do these books support social-emotional learning, but there are scientific books for exploration. Scientific exploration is another significant component in students' learning about the world around them. All the books on the list correlate with one another because this is a way to lead my classroom in understanding the world around them from many different perspectives.

With these new books, my students can choose from various books that will allow them to read independently at their grade level.

My students will be able to have the opportunity to see themselves through a richly diverse set of books. Students can read and share their personal experiences using these materials in a diverse, supported classroom.
