My goal is to spark a love (or interest) for reading in all of my students. Cognitive processes help us learn new things. Studies have proven that reading helps strengthen memory retention skills. The more you read, the more parts of your brain activate, with lasting effects. Students acquire more knowledge each time they read.
When I surveyed my classes, nearly 80 percent of my students requested physical copies of novels and they have been asking when we will start reading our first book.
I love that they are excited and want to support them as much as possible.
For me reading is about the adventure. Think about your favorite book. What made you think of that particular title? Books can excite, inspire, and push us to ask higher level questions about the world around us.
