My students need a variety of books at different reading levels to read in our class library. These books will encourage them to read more and enjoy books.
My students love reading! Their favorite time of day is when they get to do read-to-self and independent reading centers.
My biggest challenge is my classroom library. We are in need of different reading leveled books for every students' needs.
As every teacher knows, every student brings different needs to your classroom.
That is what I love about my job. Having the right materials is a huge part of helping every student get to where they are going. Just having a wide variety of books in my classroom will help with this task.
My Project
I know that students learn to love reading by reading what they love. My only constant requirement for independent reading is that students choose what they like at their reading level. Reading at their personal level allows them to strengthen and improve their reading skills, which will help them across all subjects.
There is nothing more exciting for me as a teacher than to see kids "fighting" to be the first to get their hands on a new book in my room.
Getting these new books for my classroom would create excitement about reading and it would get more great books in my students' hands.
