My Students

I teach 28 lively first and second grade students who LOVE school! They love to learn! They enjoy technology, hands on projects, solving math problems, completing research projects, writing poetry, and science exploration. They also LOVE to read. They enjoy bringing books from home, checking out books from the library, recording themselves reading, and recommending books to their friends. We also have guest readers, parents and grandparents, who come in and read to us. When new books come into the classroom, they dive right in!

My Project

When my students have free time, they choose to read! They read to themselves, read to friends, and even read to stuffed animals. When they find a new series, they are quick to share with their peers. Their excitement is contagious!

We are requesting books from our favorite authors (Mo Willems, Barbara Park, Kate DiCamillo) to add to our collection; as well as high interest books including Star Wars, Lego, and Choose Your Own Adventure.

We have a wide range of reading levels in first and second grade, but all of the selected books vary in levels. Contributing to this project will support the reading education of twenty-eight students this year and countless others for years to come.
