Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students come to school each day eager to learn. They greet me each morning with a spark in their smiles and a zeal for knowledge in their hearts. My students have a passion for intense, hands-on learning. Their quest for understanding and education motivates me!

My school seeks to meet the needs of each student in many ways.

We serve breakfast daily to the entire student body. We have many extracurricular clubs that meet after-school. l obtain sponsored admissions to Zoo Atlanta, GA Aquarium, Atlanta Symphony, and the High Museum to enrich the lives and culture of all the students on my grade level.

My Project

My classroom is an extension of my home. I try to create an environment that is welcoming and inviting for my students.

This project seeks a bench that will be placed in our reading center as a cozy warm place to read.

My continual goal is not only to create students who read well but to also develop life long lovers of reading. In order to do this, reading must be daily presented as a fun activity. Having an exciting place to read will encourage and promote this 'Lover of Reading' trait in my students.

The storage underneath the bench will be used to store literature that we are not currently using. The addition of a reading bench will definitely encourage the love of reading in my 2nd-grade classroom.
