My Students
The theme for our class is "Climbing the Mountain." We are hiking up the trail of success every single day. We read by the campfire, work on math at the picnic table, and write by the light of the moon.
My school is a Title I-funded school located in North Charleston, South Carolina.
Our school is very diverse. We have a mixed population of English language learners, low-income families, and middle-class families. My classroom is filled with "Happy Campers" with varied backgrounds. Many come to school each day with many challenges to overcome. Life is hard for them, but they have a strong desire to learn! I want to provide opportunities for everyone in my class to hike to the top of the mountain!
My Project
I have selected these titles to use as read alouds in my classroom. They will engage students as well as inspire them to explore other books on their own. They are great for building background knowledge and talking around key literary components.
By using these texts, I will be able to access a wide variety of curriculum content - Math, Science, Social Studies, Art, and Technolgy.
Students will love listening to these books! I will have to opportunity to provide lessons using these books that will not only inspire my class to read and explore even more literature on their own, but will also increase communication skills, build schema, components and most certainly, excite and catapult my students into the writing process!
