Read-Alouds as the Catalyst for Conversations About Inclusion and Representation
Help me give my students access to read-alouds that invite deep conversations about diversity. I will add these books to our school's shared book collection. All teachers at our site will have access to these amazing texts!
We are excited to use read-alouds as the catalyst for conversations about onclusion and representation. This collection of texts will serve as a door, mirrors, and windows for our students to connect with others around them, feel validated in who they are, and imagine how others with different lived experiences move through this world.
Read-alouds are a fabulous way for teachers to spark important conversations in an age-appropriate way with their students.
These texts connect to social-studies standards and help us to meet the social-emotional learning goals for our school. This set of texts will be available for teachers to check out when they would like to read them with their class, and each one will have an available lesson from Vera Ahiyya's phenomenal collection to help guide their discussion.
