Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are curious, eager to learn, and always excited about read-aloud time. It’s a special part of our day where we come together, laugh, and connect. The books requested for this project will offer a diverse range of stories that foster academic growth while nurturing empathy, kindness, and a sense of community.

What makes this project unique is how these books will introduce my students to diverse characters and experiences.

For many of my students, books like Last Stop on Market Street by Matt de la Peña and The Day It Rained Hearts by Felicia Bond provide powerful reflections of their own lives while also opening doors to different perspectives. These stories will encourage conversations about fairness, inclusion, and respect, helping to build a classroom environment where everyone feels valued. Through these read-alouds, I aim to strengthen their literacy skills and spark meaningful discussions that will support their growth as individuals.

The goal of this project is to not only improve reading skills but to foster a sense of belonging and respect in the classroom. By sharing these diverse stories, we can create a space where learning is both academic and personal.
