This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
I want my students to have the resources they need in order to be successful.
It is so important that my students have a safe, fun environment from the minute they walk in the door of my classroom to the time they are dismissed. Each student is different, socially, emotionally and academically. I focus on their individual potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.
My Project
Help us continue to build our love of reading with new books! My second graders need more books that they can enjoy reading independently or as a read aloud! Often, I hear "Mrs. DiNapoli, I need new books...I read these soooo many times!" Adding new books to our library will provide additional resources, reading adventures for my students. This selection of books will also assist my students in sparking new writing ideas! My students love reading and adventures.
The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of meaningful reading and writing!
The Elephant and Piggie and Miss Nelson collection are class favorites! With these copies, my students will have access to multiple copies for reading enjoyment!
