FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Fraas's classroom raised $190

My Students
Do you remember what it was like when you read that first word or first story? For my first graders, this is a daily struggle which could result from language difficulties to learning difficulties. My first graders deserve the best, and I want to provide them with the enrichment to succeed!
The first graders in my classroom are always eager to learn no matter what background they come from.
These students attend a Title I school where 96% of the students receive free or reduced lunch. These first graders come from single parent homes or homes where one or more parent is unemployed, or possibly they are homeless.
Many of my students speak languages other than English at home but their families provide for them the best they can. The first graders in my classroom, at times, struggle with learning because of the lack of supplies and educational cutbacks.
My Project
The items I need to help with my literacy instruction will enhance and challenge what they already know. The leveled book box will allow students to read a book and complete an activity that will allow them to practice key comprehension skills. The nonfiction famous Americans box set will help students learn about history that is lacking in the classroom. The word work activities will help enrich the key phonics skills needed to succeed in reading.
I know that we all have financial troubles in some way or another, but if our students do not have the basic supplies they need to help reshape the world, what will our future look like?
Please help me to make this school year a success and not a struggle for my students.
