My Students

I have the best job on the planet! I get to teach students to communicate! Every year, I teach more than 60 students. I am a speech pathologist in a Title l school where over 50% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. My students all have some type of speech and/or language impairment. We start every therapy session sharing a good thing that has happened in our lives. My students are eager to work on their speech and language goals.

My Project

I will use books weekly in my speech therapy sessions. My students love to listen to books as well as read them out loud to their peers to practice their speech and language skills. I am able to target multiple speech and language goals by using literature in speech therapy sessions. My students will be able to answer questions regarding the book, sequence the story, and retell the story with correct speech sounds.

The use of books will not only increase their speech and language skills, but also increase their literacy skills.

These books will expose my students to books they have never seen or heard of. The project will also allow my students to have a wider variety of books to choose from.
