My Students

I have been fortunate to teach professionally for 6 years in first grade. I have my undergraduate degree in sociology, my masters degree in early childhood education and a specialist in teacher leadership. I am absolutely dedicated and passionate about what I do in my first-grade classroom, every student is special and valued in their own and unique way. I try my best to teach each student at their level and according to their learning style. Teaching in a Title I school, we work with parents and the community to provide our students with a strong social, emotional, and academic foundation. I wake each morning excited to teach those little minds all I know. First grade can be a difficult year because students are expected to learn so much in 180 days. The growth these students show from August to May is amazing. I could not imagine doing anything else.I am truly happy and lucky to work with these diverse and unique students every day.

My Project

Having tablets in the room will allow my students to explore different books throughout our room. They love to read! We learn about so many different animals and people. They will have the opportunity to research about them and read books about them on their own using the tablets. I want my students to use the latest technology. I will be able to download different reading apps for the to practice their skills and extend their knowledge of things they are interested in. My project will make a difference in their lives because they are digital masters.

Tablets have the potential to open up the world’s rich store of information to open minds such as my 1st grade students.

Our classrooms have technology but not one to one technology. This grant will help make that possible.
