My students need a different variety of books including Fly Guy, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and Judy Moody. Since this is my first year in Second Grade I don't have very many books to offer them on their grade level.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

After 4 years of teaching Kindergarten, I thought it would be a great change to move to 2nd. My 2nd grade students are full of energy and life. They light up when it is time to read. I have enjoyed this transition immensely and look forward to watching them grow as readers.

My students are a unique bunch of kids from different cultural and economic backgrounds.

They are super sweet and hard working. Our school is located in Georgia in a diverse, populated area. 91% of our students receive free or reduced lunch.

Every day brings a new day of learning and excitement. These students deserve the very best which is why I have created this project.

My Project

Reading is an essential part of life. I am molding these students to become the best readers they can be. I want these emerging readers to find books that they love. We all know when we love a book we get "lost" in it. We enter a different world and sometimes feel truly inspired.

I want my students to experience that kind of love for reading by giving them the opportunity to choose different kinds of books.

A student's interest in a book is what makes them grow as a reader. My goal is for every student to find some type of book that they can get "lost" in! This project will give each student that opportunity!
