My Students
My students are very diverse in languages, cultures, beliefs and personal strengths, as more than half of them have come from all over the world. However, nearly 80% are free or reduced lunch in this SeaTac, WA school.
The challenges many of my students face in-and-out of school make it difficult for them to find their purpose at school.
In engineering designs, my students are doing hands-on, real world projects that are rigorous and relevant. Let education push past poverty.
My Project
Our Engineering Designs and Computer Technology classes have a small collection of gadgets and gizmos that have been picked up over the years and are in dire need to be used. The kids and I have decided we need a MakerSpace to get some use out of these items and breathe new life into them, however, without direction (or instructions) we are struggling to get started.
These books will provide technical-reading experiences for students create and craft hands-on STEM projects.
We choose books that include step-by-step instructions with images to help our large population of struggling readers and English Language Learners (ELL).
