My Students
Students at my school are fourth and fifth graders, coming from a range of backgrounds. The students come from self-contained classrooms and enter our building where they change classes multiple times throughout the day.
Students are always looking for ways to interact with other students, teachers, and classes.
They welcome opportunities to work with other people, including the local Assisted Living home and the neighboring primary grade students. The students are eager to help people in and around the community.
My Project
My students will be participating in Read Across America activities throughout the week of Dr. Seuss's birthday. The classes will be participating in activities such as reading with other classes, listening to guest readers and playing games that are related to books.
The Dr. Seuss erasers, bookmarks, and pencils would foster an atmosphere of enthusiasm for reading and community-bonding.
Students love receiving gifts, and receiving gifts while reading would solidify a love of reading for some students, and would bring happiness to those who do not yet love reading. I hope to make this week of reading memorable and enjoyable to the students at my school.
