My Students

A typical day in the library begins with students coming in to return and check out books. Classes send down their books which are checked in and shelved. Next, classes begin arriving. The first 15 to 20 minutes of class involve a lesson, and the last 10 minutes are utilized to locate books.

I service students from Pre-K through 5th grade.

We are an elementary school with approximately 450 students. Our students come from different ethnic, social, and economic backgrounds. We service a wide range of student abilities ranging from special education to gifted. Each student, no matter their academic ability, thirsts for knowledge. Our students love to read and learn, and frequent the library. Our school takes pride in the fact that we treat each student as an individual and try to not only promote their academic success but also build their self-esteem and nurture their potential.

My Project

I am requesting 1 iPad to search for materials and investigate author backgrounds and series. They can explore different resources and engage in learning. Students are excited and inspired when they get to learn using technology. Students will be able to use the iPad to research and locate information. A quick search can lead to a more in-depth search which leads to learning. As students become curious they will explore and learn. The use of an iPad will help students engage in their own learning. They will have a powerful tool that will inspire them to keep exploring and learning and promote our ultimate goal - life long learning.

The library is a perfect place to expose students to technology.

Students are excited about iPads and the many learning opportunities they provide. An iPad is the perfect tool to capture the interest of all students and promote learning and exploration.
