This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students have yet to enjoy the great movie that they can make in their head by using their imagination while reading. It is better than going to the real movies any old time.

My students are at risk of dropping out of school.

Some of them have babies, some have to work to help support their families, and some have been jail. The one thing that they all have in common is they all wish to complete their education and get their diplomas.

My Project

My students all love their cell phones. I am hoping that I can use the iPad in class to help them discover that reading is life long skill that will enrich their lives now and into the future. I hope that using the iPad will peak their interest in reading. Most of the books that I have in my room are lower level and at least 5 years old and falling a part. I hate to have to hand a book to student with a rubber band on it to keep it from falling a part.

Most my students come from poverty.

They haven't passed their exit exam due to gaps in their education and poor reading skills. Please, help us give these students a better future for themselves and families. Help them learn to read.
