My Project
This technology would provide me and my students the opportunity to take our school publications to the next level. Large iMac screens would provide my students with an organized and clear workspace so that the digital page design would become so much more efficient. They wouldn’t have to continuously zoom in and out in order to understand how the work they are doing is coming together on the pages. They are currently using 8-10 inch Chromebooks that often do not function appropriately for the assigned design tasks.
I hope to see students gain a new love and passion for digital media as we live in a world that’s dominated by technology.
The faculty laptop would be extremely beneficial to my work as I often work on yearbook pages outside of school, so the ability to bring this computer to and from work would be incredibly helpful. I oversee every page of the yearbook and often spend my non-contract hours editing pages and creating designs. I need a laptop with a fast processor and a large screen to be able to do this more effectively. The MacBook is my first choice because of its speed, clarity, size, and air-dropping capabilities. The students are able to air-drop their photos directly to the computer. This makes uploading the photos incredibly easy and efficient.
These new technologies would benefit me and my students in many ways. I hope that by having access to larger screens and advanced software we are able to submit our yearbook designs to national Josten's competitions and win some awards. I know my students are currently capable of achieving some of these awards, but having new technology would make it so much more achievable for them.
