The manipulatives help students see and touch abstract geometry ideas in action, making concept building more intuitive and meaningful. The calculators let students focus on problem solving instead of cumbersome arithmetic, while the headphones open up access to interactive math simulations and online resources that make learning dynamic and collaborative. Now students can explore lessons independently, stay engaged, and connect math ideas across multiple formats.\r\n\r\nWhat excites our students the most is how hands on and interactive our lessons have become. Geometry lessons feel more alive as students can manipulate angles and shapes themselves. Using technology for online simulations with headphones allows them to explore on their own while staying mindful of others, and they appreciate the privacy and immersion that headphones provide.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who were previously hesitant in math have especially warmed to these new tools. Those who felt insecure about drawing shapes or calculating formulas are now more confident because the manipulatives guide their understanding. Students who struggled to stay focused during whole class instruction now engage more fully during simulation activities. The tools also support differentiated learning where students who grasp concepts quickly can move forward while others benefit from repeating simulations and visual aids at their own pace.","fullyFundedDate":1714424829938,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-mrs-ericksons-8th-grade-mat/8314626/","projectTitle":"Empowering Mrs. Erickson's 8th Grade Mathematicians","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Erickson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9512315_orig.jpg?crop=950,950,x10,y676&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1713275399060","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-cerickson"},{"teacherId":9512315,"projectId":8315662,"letterContent":"In our 8th-grade math classroom, many students previously had to share calculators, which limited their ability to fully participate in lessons. Thanks to the generous funding of new calculators and a storage solution to keep them organized, every student now has immediate access to the tools they need. This simple shift has made a big difference. Students can now work through problems independently, stay engaged during instruction, and build confidence as they tackle more challenging concepts.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most about the new calculators is the independence they now have. Instead of waiting for a turn or rushing through problems, they can move at their own pace and focus on accuracy. The calculators have also become a source of pride in the classroom. Students treat them with care and responsibility, and some have even taken on the role of keeping the storage unit organized. For a few students who previously struggled to participate or felt hesitant in math, having their own calculator has helped them feel more empowered and involved in their learning.","fullyFundedDate":1715101362160,"projectUrl":"project/calling-all-calculators/8315662/","projectTitle":"Calling All Calculators!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Erickson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9512315_orig.jpg?crop=950,950,x10,y676&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1713275399060","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-cerickson"},{"teacherId":9427728,"projectId":8134015,"letterContent":"Thank you for the generous donation that made it possible for my students to have access to sewing machines in our art classroom. These new resources have had an incredible impact on our learning environment, allowing students from 5th to 8th grade to learn new skills and explore art in exciting ways. Students were excited to see the sewing area set up in the classrooms as many of them have never used a sewing machine before. We started with learning the basics of sewing and then made some fabric-based art projects.\r\n\r\nOne project that stands out is our fabric snowflake banners where students cutout snowflakes, printed them on fabric panel and then sewed the panels together. This project not only helped them practice their sewing skills but also gave them a new medium to express their individuality. The pride they felt in seeing their work come to life was truly inspiring. We are continuing to develop their skills by introducing more complex sewing projects: sewing tote bags, small quilts and more banner-style pieces. Your donation has not only provided the tools but has also opened up new avenues for creativity, self-expression, and artistic growth for my students.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your support and for making these opportunities possible. The students are excited to continue learning and growing with these resources, and I am so grateful for your contribution to their education.","fullyFundedDate":1708649645886,"projectUrl":"project/sew-creative/8134015/","projectTitle":"Sew Creative","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Finkenstadt","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9427728_orig.jpg?crop=626,625,x0,y6&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1705282402908","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/era-art"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_28868","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":826,"numTeachers":47,"percentFrplEligible":33,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":77,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":9,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"17.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":82.5,"schoolId":28868,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Eno River Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Eno River Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/north-carolina-department-of-education/orange-charter-school/28868"}
