I have 22 children in my class. I have at least half that are struggling to learn letters and sounds. I am hoping with some fun and exciting technology, the children that are struggling can catch up to their peers.
Our school is very multicultural.
I love that! We have over 35 languages spoken in our school. I have 22 kindergarten students coming from all races and different backgrounds. In kindergarten you see it all. Some kids can read, some don't even know a single letter. It is up to me to close that huge gap by the end of the year. I have nine girls and thirteen boys.
My Project
If I am lucky enough to have my project chosen, my children will benefit immediately! I have asked for 25 at your seat sacks to help keep the children organized. They can keep their science and math journals at their seat with easy access whenever they need it. I have spent hundreds of dollars on these over the years paying someone to make them. These are a life saver in helping five years learn to be responsible for their belongings. I am more excited about the tablets and leap pads. A lot of my boys are very far below their peers. They came in with a disadvantage having never been to school. With the tablets and leap pads, the children would have a fun and creative way to catch up to their peers. It doesn't matter if you are five or forty, technology makes learning fun! Both the tablets and leap pads have fun educational games for children ages four to six. That is right up our alley! I can't wait to see the excitement and joy on their faces as they learn and explore.
The impact these tablets and leap pads will have on my students will be instant!
The children that are behind their peers will have a chance to catch up to their peers. As an educator you want all children to succeed. I want to be able to offer whatever I can to all my students to have the feeling of being successful. The tablets and leap pads will have games on all different levels, just like my class. The kids can start at their level and feel success. Isn't that what everyone wants to feel?
