My Students
As a teacher in a low-income, urban school with limited materials and resources, my students are faced with various challenges both in and out of the classroom. Many are English language learners who come from economically disadvantaged homes and must balance school and extracurricular activities with work in order to help support themselves and their families.
Despite the barriers they face, my AP Calculus BC students are driven to succeed and better themselves, and they are very involved in the school and their community.
They arrive to class each day enthusiastic and ready to learn. Watching them tackle challenging Calculus problems, become persistent problem solvers, and work together is an inspiration.
My Project
My school currently only has very outdated calculus textbooks and outdated Princeton Review AP Calculus review books that no longer reflect the recent changes to the AP Calculus exam effective in 2017.
My students need the newest edition of this "Cracking the Exam" study book, which includes content review sections, full practice exams, and specific test strategies.
With these updated review guides, my students will be able to supplement and reinforce their learning and I will be able to incorporate these books into classwork and homework assignments throughout the year and during our 3 week review period in April.
By improving the resources available to my students, I will be able to ensure their success, enhance the AP Calculus program at my school, and increase the number of students who take Calculus, the most powerful mathematical method ever created!
