My Students
Do you remember how exciting it was as child to learn a new skill or concept that was challenging? Maybe it was one that you really had to take your time with and approach learning it from multiple ways? Suddenly it clicks. Your eyes widen with excitement and amazement. You finally you did it! You mastered something that you worked so hard to achieve. You feel that you could learn anything.
Moments like these help to foster motivated young minds to become lifelong learners.
One of the best parts of being a teacher for me is witnessing these moments. I feel just as excited as the students themselves because I played a role in this journey with them.
My students are kind and caring individuals who are eager to thrive in all subject areas of the classroom. As individuals they excel in many different areas and reach their goals at their own pace. I believe that by providing them the information they need in multiple ways gives me the capability to reach all of my students, encouraging their passion for learning.
My Project
The classroom today is changing by the minute. Whether I am teaching virtually, hybrid or in class an iPad and Elmo document camera will allow for a seamless transition that will engage students and provide multi sensory support so I can reach every learner.
An iPad and and Elmo are critical in todays classroom.
The iPad provides engaging access to multiple educational apps and programs, allows children to record their work and progress to share with peers and is an excellent source for me to record and upload multiple books to build our Google Classroom library, a critical component of our classroom especially now due Covid-19. Books provide knowledge, ease and comfort to every learner. The more access I can provide for them at home, the more I can meet and exceed their social emotional needs and increase their reading skills.
The Elmo document camera allows students have clear, visual access to all of my lessons while still remaining safely 6 feet apart. Prior to Covid I had some access to one (but not as much as I wished for) that I used to model a math manipulative, make note of how illustrations supported the author's purpose or generate questions as to why a word was in italics, give students a clear view of how a science experiment should turn out or locate different origins and cultures of the world in social studies.
