Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My kindergarten students are lively, fun, curious children who enjoy listening to stories, asking questions, playing, moving their bodies, and working with their hands.
They each have their own unique personalities, strengths and areas for growth.
Kindergarten has changed over the years and many academic demands have been placed on these little ones, but they rise to the challenge each and every day. One area of difficulty for such young learners over the years has been meeting the end of year reading benchmark.
My Project
My students are just beginning their reading journeys and I would like to supplement their literacy lessons with access to the KidsSoup bundle. The bundle includes Story Twiggles, ABC Twiggles and the resource library. Story Twiggles is sure to bring the reading of short, simple books to life for them.
Story Twiggles features interactive digital online books which contain beautiful illustrations coupled with fun animations, music, and sounds, which make the stories interesting and engaging for emergent readers.
ABC Twiggles is a multi-sensory approach to learning that promotes alphabetic knowledge, phonological awareness, book and print concepts, and vocabulary development. This area would be most useful for my students who are having trouble grasping early reading concepts. The resource library provides access to early literacy materials that cover areas such as word families and rhymes. These items will be used to provide extra practice.
In addition, I have requested baggies for students to carry books home and fingerprint paper.
