Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have a classroom of 36 students who are full of life, walk into class with a smile, and ready to learn each day. Although more than 20% of my students have a specific learning disability, they are all hard workers who comes from lower social economic backgrounds. Our daily schedule are packed with core academic subjects. But we always find a little bit of time to learn a foreign language.
I teach at a Title One school in Barrio Logan, San Diego where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast in the classroom and free lunch each day.
Thirty percent of those students at our school are homeless and live in homeless shelters around the neighborhood. Some students live in T.J, Mexico and they cross the border every morning with their family. All because each one of them are eager to learn and get an education. Students at Perkins loves school because they persevere to achieve success.
My Project
I have a classroom of 36 fast growing fourth graders. Many of our chairs are on tile floors. The chair legs covers will help keep the classroom in presentable condition as well as ensuring that students does not get distracted every time a chair is moved!
Your generous donation to this project will help improve students academic and success.
My students are all at different levels in their reading and math skills. The lowest reading group I have in my class is at a kindergarten level. The story book boards and sight words rings I requested will be used for this amazing students during independent reading time.
Aside from reading, the majority of my students have not mastered their multiplication facts. I am requesting several boxes of multiplication flash cards for students to use during center. Students will work with a partner in quizzing each other their multiplications.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
