My students need books like The Lemonade War for read alouds. Read alouds can draw students into a community which is knowledgeable and curious about various topics.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is a Title I campus which means it is a school of high poverty. Many of our parents work multiple jobs to make ends meet. It is a neighborhood school and most students walk to school. 80% of my students are English Language Learners who struggle with reading and math.
Classrooms which are student-centered are successful.
My goal is to increase engagement in a student-centered classroom to help set up my students for success. I incorporate a variety of learning strategies, projects and options to help meet students where they are and achieve their goals.
My Project
New grade level appropriate books for class read alouds can promote a class bond. They also help promote a love of reading, help to preview information, model effective reading and provide an exemplar for writing. Help us re-imagine the classroom through creating a love of books and a love of reading.
Join our adventure as we re-imagine the classroom this year!
Help us read new books since read alouds are the foundation of literacy development. Students can listen to a higher instructional level book than they can read, so reading aloud help expose students to vocabulary and language patterns which are not part of everyday speech.
