My Project

Second grade is where the reading magic happens. When students take what they learned in kindergarten about letters/sounds, then develop and strengthen their decoding skills in first grade they become readers! In second grade, students realize they are true readers. Once they figure out they are readers there is no stopping them!

Second graders are ravenous readers and I need to have books, A LOT of books, readily available to them.

The books I'm requesting are high interest books with words that show students how to decode. Many times when students visit our school library they choose books they cannot read yet. I want to be sure they have plenty of other books available that they can read. They will become better readers and find the true joy in reading by reading.
