This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a high poverty area and many students have parents that are in the military. In spite of their financial situation, my students are geared toward success. They are highly motivated and practice outside of school hours daily. Music is definitely important in their lives and they show it every day with their positive attitudes and the desire to learn.

Our school community provides students the opportunity to reach their highest level of personal well-being and intellectual independence by creating a safe learning environment that empowers students to become responsible and productive as contributing individuals in our ever changing world.

My Project

Our music students are in need of a new concert snare drum. The drum we currently use is over twenty years old and the parts are rusted.

Playing on a new snare drum would motivate our percussion students to work harder and practice more because it would be enjoyable to hear such a magnificent sound.

The snare drum is an essential instrument in the percussion section and really is the backbone of the band. Without a good drum, the entire band suffers.

You can make a difference in the life of a child today, and many more in the future.
