This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Seniors are sunsetting their high school careers. Part of this journey is creating space to put closure on their traditional public school experience. Another part is creating space to imagine their futures in college, career and their passions.
Ramen Fridays will allow us to engage in reflections on the past and visions for the future while communally breaking bread (or ramen).
Students are excited to collectively prepare, share and clean up imagining themselves in a dorm or independent, but collective, living space. They will take turns preparing different parts of the meal, facilitating the community meeting discussions and clean up crew. This will support thinking about healthy ways to live collectively in the future.
We chose ramen because it is a meal that is very popular today across the classes, simple to prepare, affordable and easy to upgrade by learning how to boil eggs, prepare greens and other vegetables and try different spices. I am also requesting additional snacks and drinks.
