This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are amazing little geniuses in a high-need community. I'm constantly impressed and proud of what they accomplish with what they have.

However, the cost of educational supplies can limit their learning potential.

Without the proper tools it's difficult to teach even the most basic concepts in melody, tone, and rhythm. Meanwhile, asking families to provide the funds for supplies and instruments for music class is a difficult task.

Between the two schools at which I teach, there are nearly 500 students who are so anxious to play more instruments!

My Project

Starting at the very beginning is a good place to start, but requires a little cash. We'd love your help acquiring some basic and versatile music learning tools!

Learning music at an early age doesn't just build musical skills.

It improves concentration, self-esteem, and confidence; enhances communication and team-building abilities; and kick starts study and work readiness. These are crucial talents to develop not only in the music room, but throughout life in general.

We are trying to gather musical supplies that are versatile and relatively inexpensive. We don't need much, but we do need SOME. Our focus right now is four sets of Boomwhackers. They are lightweight, hollow, color-coded tubes tuned to musical pitch by length. They live in the percussion family and one set covers a full C-major scale.

WE ARE HALFWAY THERE! We just need a little boost to climb that mountain. Your donations can open a whole world of learning potential, and who knows, might spark our future rockstars!
