Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
At our school, our innovative esports program is entering its second year. Building on our initial success—where all three of our teams reached the playoffs in our first year—we aim to expand our offerings. This year, we plan to introduce versatile gaming consoles like the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5, along with popular titles such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. This expansion will make our program more inclusive, allowing us to cater to a broader range of gaming preferences and ensuring every student has the opportunity to engage and compete.
Our ATC Phoenix esports program is not trying to be just about gaming; it is aiming to cultivate critical life skills.
We integrate responsible gaming with academic priorities, focusing on team communication, active listening, and career-building skills. As esports gains momentum in New Mexico, with around 90 teams competing statewide, our goal is to be at the forefront of this growth.
Our additional equipment will broaden the scope of our program. Growing the program will be inclusive for our diverse student body, offering a well-rounded esports experience. This initiative is designed to captivate a wider array of student interests and passions, promoting an inclusive and equitable environment where high-level gaming is accessible to all.
