This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are some of the best high-school aged musicians in the Central Valley. They regularly play challenging music and earn high recognition at marching band competitions and concert band festivals. I am immensely proud of everything they are able to accomplish even with limited resources.

This project is the first of five requests.

Our eventual goal is to have 60 of these tuners with microphones so that every musician in the music department will be able to receive live feedback on their intonation during rehearsals.

The power of a visual aid for intonation is immense. Having these tuners will help my students be more in tune on a regular basis, identify the problem notes on their instruments, and develop sensibilities to hear problems with intonation and make appropriate adjustments to give strong performances.
