My Students

My students are diagnosed with mild to moderate disabilities (cognitive or developmental) that cause them to experience delays in the general education setting. Often these students work best in small group settings, with more individualized instruction and/ or other accommodations.

My students enjoy a vibrant learning environment and like to be comfortable as they learn.

My students enjoy learning in a space where they feel safe to ask for additional assistance and attempt the learning process at their own pace.

My Project

These resources will help students develop fundamental reading skills so that as they progress through the grade levels they will not continue to see deficit in early literacy skills. Using these resources I would like to make developing early reading skills fun for students so that they can bridge the gap to become successful readers in the upper grade levels. These resources also incorporate skills to become better writers which is also an important literary skill and highly correlated with reading success. Hopefully using these resources will make reading and early reading skills fun or students so they do not view reading as a chore and they can thrive with greater reading ability in their future. These resources can be used in class in small group remediation as well as sent home for additional practice.
