My Project

Sometimes we just get stuck inside all day, we have finished our work, and we just need a break! As a teacher, it pains me to always see kids reaching for tablets and laptops. I know that there are a variety of board games, card games, and other activities that encourage tactile discovery. Staring at screens is not always the best way for our young people to take breaks, especially when they may spend much of their time at home watching TV, playing video games, or scrolling on phones.

My students are incredibly brilliant and need more opportunities to connect with card games, board games, and "old fashioned" fun.

They need opportunities to realize the principles and fundamentals of gameplay. And of course, opportunities to give their eyes a break from those bright white screens that only teach them to tap and swipe.

With these opportunities, I know they will gravitate towards games that engage their minds and imagination beyond the high-definition graphics of computer-based apps. I look forward to them reading directions and explaining to me why they think they can "stack" cards in UNO! Or, using Battleship to understand grids and coordinates during a math lesson. Help me bring our childhood games to the innovative minds of this new generation of young learners.
