I teach art, and my students love to come into my classroom. I get to teach them about color, the thing that makes our world bright! It is the one place in school where the only expectation is that they are themselves.
In art class, students learn to think creatively, not just for expressing themselves but also for problem solving.
It is amazing to see the standards these little ones already have for themselves, and our world requires structure in order for us to function. But we need balance and that is what art does for my students.
I love teaching art; it has been a long journey to get here, but the minute I step into my classroom I forget all of that and focus on my students and making sure that each lesson is a fun one!
My Project
Drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture and crafting are essential parts of my art class curriculum. We love making art any way we can, and we draw inspiration from many different sources. Our biggest source of inspiration is books, and I have managed to collect a good amount of art books for my classroom.
What we don't have is a comfortable, inviting space where we can sit and gather to enjoy reading our books.
Our tables are for middle and high schoolers not for elementary school kids. I painted our chairs in the colors of the rainbow to bring life into our room and make our furniture more appealing to our young students. I am happy to have the furniture, but I would love to provide an area rug for my students to talk about and read about art.
We would love your participation in this project to make our room rainbow bright!
