This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have a group of fourth grade students who are highly enthusiastic and eager to learn something new every single day! My students always try their best at everything and anything despite the challenges that they face in their daily lives.
My students live in an impoverished area of South Los Angeles.
All of my students come from low-income families.
We are a Title I school where 100% of our students receive free meals. As a Title I school, we have limited supplies, limited resources, and are very low on the technology scale. My students do not all have the same opportunities at home, and thus need to be exposed to as many opportunities as possible at school. One goal is to expose them to computer programming since this will be an area for many jobs in their future.
My Project
We are expecting a lot of rain and want to be prepared. Our classroom is in need of board games. We need board games to enjoy during rainy day schedules. Board games such as Sorry, Trouble, Jenga, Connect 4, Qwirkle, and Uno will create a fun indoor recess. These board games will help my students pass time during rainy days when they can't go outside and play on the yard. Board games are fun, entertaining, and will create good social skills like sharing and taking turns. My students need to play and be able to take a break from brain overload on rainy days.
This project is important to me because sometimes kids just need to play.
The majority of my students haven't had the opportunity to experience board games at home due to the lack of financial resources in their families. I would like to provide my students with the opportunity to play board games during rainy days because it will help them learn to interact. We thank you in advance for all your kindness and support. Your donation will make a difference in my students' education.
