This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Radius is a hands-on learning system that uses a CD with card reading capabilities. The Radius system will allow my students to work independently with many different activities. Some of the opportunities for my students will include oral practice, reinforcement, and self-correction. Students will work through levels of learning at each Radius station. My students may work alone or in small groups.
The Radius sets that I am requesting will help my students learn many reading concepts. Improving reading is our area of focus at our school. Students are poor readers but are determined to improve their skills. With the help of the Radius system, I know they will develop the skills necessary to master grade level reading skills.
I teach second grade in a poverty stricken area. My second grade classroom is comprised of special education students, ENL, and students of various ethnic backgrounds.
Three Radius systems and learning sets are necessary to aid my students. All 25 current students will use the Radius system. This system will be used for many years in the future as well.
