This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a 2nd grade teacher at a local Memphis school, which service 400 students altogether. Our students consist of Pre-Kindergarten, First Grade, 2th Grade, 3rd Grade, 4th Grade, and 5th Grade. Most of the students come from low income families. Nearly 70 percentage of the students are African American, 30 percent of the students are Hispanic. Our students are bright individuals who look forward to school. They also need a little more security to ensure they are provided a safe education.
My Project
The two-way radios that I am requesting to make sure the school is safe at all times. It will allow us to communicate for fire drills, intruder drills, and other drills. I will also help us with their safety if there was a real event happening.
The radios will also help keep our daily schedule on track.
That means if 2nd Grade is ready to switch classes, we could just use the radios to communicate that information since our buildings are concrete and there is hardly any cell phone service in the buildings. They would be a great way to communicate anyone in o ur building more sufficiently.
