My school is home to just over 700 students in Draper, UT. We are a public school, so that means that teachers spend a lot of our own money on materials we need for our class. Our students are amazing, and we work hard to ensure that they are college, career, and citizenship ready once they graduate. We pride ourselves on positive interactions with students and staying on the cutting edge of new technology.
We work together as a family-type team to provide access to the most current and updated materials to all of our elementary students.
We hope that through DonorsChoose we can fund some of our classroom needs to provide all students with a creative, successful learning environment!
My Project
“Reading is essential for those who seek to rise above the ordinary.” – Jim Rohn. I have been a teacher for 12 years. Every year, students report reading at home less and less. We lead reading groups four days a week for over an hour, but beyond that I fear that most of my students are not reading at home.
In order to provide the fullest engagement in reading groups, I need games and an organization cart.
With materials organized and easily accessible, I can plan for more engaging reading groups. I would be able to put the games and activities in the cart, organized by skill, so as to reach all of my learners in their areas of need. I have requested literature bingo games and a set of comprehension cards with magnetic interactive pens to increase engagement as we practice comprehension skills.
