Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a teacher in a majority minority school, I have seen and heard that my students don't feel like they have a future in the stem fields. This utterly breaks my heart because one of the main ways that we can start to move toward a more equal society is by having more minorities seek out high paying careers in stem. When my students look at books that include students that look like them and others that they may not typically believe "look like scientists", I want them to shatter the stereotypes they have.

Stem is for every race and gender.

I hope by using these books of diverse voices that these students can begin to realize this. Every race has made, and continues to make, huge contributions to the field of science. Unfortunately, most people only know a few important minds. These books some of the underrepresented people that have helped to make our modern world.
