My Students

Musicians learn many skills in band class including responsibility, working with others, as well as many others.

My students attend a public magnet high school in Louisiana.

Our high school students come from various backgrounds, some with extensive exposure to instrumental music and some whose only musical knowledge comes from the dedicated service of their elementary music teachers. Many come from low-income families and are unable to afford their own instruments and the necessary accessories that come with those instruments. Our philosophy is that money should never be a reason why a child isn't in band, so the school has a selection of instruments and accessories available for students to use throughout the school year.

My Project

This school year, we purchased the school's first ever band uniform so we could march in our very first parade. The uniforms are very expensive so we weren't able to purchase the items needed to store them properly. We would like to keep these uniforms in the best condition possible so that we can use them for many more years.

Hangers and garment bags are necessary to store and protect the band uniforms properly.

Students for many years will be able to wear our uniforms with pride after we use these hangers and garment bags. The band students will also be able to learn responsibility for their uniforms.
