This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Many students have not had the opportunity to be read to on a daily basis, but through this listening center students will have the opportunity to hear how great reading should sound at their own pace.
I will be teaching a great group of 2nd graders.
They are budding with excitement to begin the school year and blossom as young readers. We are a community in our classroom who support one another and help each other in any way they can. Our school takes the time out to make sure we are helping every student in any way we can. As you walk through the school the first thing you see is "1 Teacher can bring about CHANGE", and each and every teacher lives by that motto. We believe that we can all make a difference, and when we work together we can reach each student in our school, one student at a time.
My Project
Many students in the community where I work have not had the opportunity to hear reading at its best, as well as be read to on a consistent basis. Through your help, we will be able to have a listening center within our classroom, where students will be able to have books read to them and hear how reading should sound at their own pace. Also my ELL students who don't have an opportunity to hear books in English this will allow them added opportunities to hear how their reading should sound, as well as follow along with the story. Through this resource, I will be able to reach all of my students at their own pace, since they will have the opportunity to play, rewind, and play again at their own pace to gather all of the story. I can't wait to see the joy on my students face when they are able to make connections with a story, they might not have been able to do when trying to read independently.
Your donation will mean the world to my students and I, helping to reach more students at a time.
This will allow to work with a small group of students, and also have a small group of students reading, listening, and interacting with a story independently with a small group through this donation. Allowing more reading independence to take in the classroom, and in turn create more independent students that continue to grow as readers.
