This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a group of enthusiastic, focused teenagers who want to be successful in life. I am amazed by how different my students are from one another. They are over-aged and under-credited, and face many challenges that have slowed their progress in school; but that doesn't prevent them from trying their best to succeed. Some of my students work full time just to make ends meet, and are also faced with being first generation college students. Their ages range from 13-20 and they may have considered dropping out previously. Unfortunately, many of them have also never been exposed to anything outside their own neighborhoods.

My school is located in New York and serves students of a variety of ethnic backgrounds primarily Black and Latino.

Even though my students may face obstacles in life, I look forward to helping them reach their maximum potential.

My Project

The eight TI-84 graphing calculators will be used every day in our math classes. My students come from low-income families so this would be a benefit for them! With your donation, the students will have access to the technology, which will also help with differentiating the class. Introducing graphing calculators will help students of all abilities be able to focus on learning the mathematics.

Being able to provide low-income students access to technology is an investment for their future.

These students are attending a college-bound school and are being exposed to pre-AP level work which requires these calculators for assistance. Having these calculators will be a benefit for them and truly prepare them for their future.
