This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is located in a low socioeconomic area where 100% of the students receive free lunch. My class is very diverse; it consists of Latin and Asian English Learners including Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai and Filipinos.
There are many different living arrangements and family structures within my students' families.
Even when faced with many challenges both at home and at school, my students manage to be enthusiastic and eager to learn. They are scholars who understand the importance of hard work and perseverance, and they always try their best to meet goals. The parents want and try to give their children the very best education possible at home, but they also rely on our school and our teachers to help fulfill their American Dream.
My Project
My students need playground equipment in order to keep a healthy body and mind. They need the Jumbo-4-To-Score classic ring dropping game. Research has shown that more children are gaining weight because they are not exercising enough, especially at school. Children are bored playing the same game every day, and they are choosing to sit out at recess.
As a teacher, I can understand why students are not active, and I want that to change, therefore I am requesting this Jumbo-4-To-Score game so that I can make the playground more inviting for my students.
The Jumbo-4-To-Score will encourage them to use critical thinking in order to score, and they will be placed in teams to encourage cooperation, collaboration and team work.
