My students need a ream of cover stock, a ream of colorful Astrobright paper and toner.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Tennyson's classroom raised $280

My Students
I teach in an older, urban, public school that is high poverty. My students are economically disadvantaged. We have a number of students who are homeless. In my classroom alone I have had over 50% of my class come and go during the school year. Several of my students are also here in the United States for the first time, and English is not their first language. The students in my sixth grade class are trying very hard to be successful but they need help. Many of them do not read at grade level. Writing is a struggle. They generally do not have access to technology outside of school and they need to be able to print their projects. My students are concrete learners. Science and social studies are difficult.
Many of my students are the children of deployed military personnel and all my students are eligible for free breakfast and lunch.
My Project
I am requesting a ream of cover stock, some astrobright paper and toner so that my students can print their reports and illustrations. This year, my sixth graders are going to imagine and research how they will earn a living in the 21st century. They will research potential careers, life time earnings and speculate on the future of work. Their career choice is limited by what their imagination can come up with. After students write and print their report, they will design a mini info poster and present it to the class. This combination of research, futuristic speculation and art project will help my students use all their problem solving skills.
I have 29 students exploring future careers and learning about financial literacy.
They have limited access to technology at home and they need to print their reports. They need toner and special paper to ensure a high quality finished project.
Please consider helping my students. Today's students are tomorrow's future!
