Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My Art students are in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade Five, and our school is of the highest need. One hundred percent of our student population receive free breakfast and lunch daily. The school is high in need, it is also highly caring as teachers, support staff, and administration work hard to create a positive learning environment. Here, Art is a crucial component of each student’s education. Visual art is a language for students of all languages, an outlet of expression, and a problem-solving building block. Student artworks are proudly displayed in our halls, and in community events including Art and Literacy Night, and in virtual art galleries. Annually at the Wadsworth Atheneum a selection of our students’ artworks are displayed in the Hartford Youth Art Renaissance.

My students face so much uncertainty as Covid-19 persists, but I still hope to create the best art classroom for my students that I can as they return to full in-person learning.

Not sharing Art supplies, having distanced set up, and facing pandemic trauma makes art and art supplies even more crucial. A quieter chair just may help my students. Please help!

My Project

I hope to give my students a more peaceful classroom by minimizing the disruptions of our classroom chairs. A basic chair can make a host of noises even in the most focused class, especially for students with sensitivity to stimulus. Having quieter chairs will help extend the life of materials we already have while removing the collective clinking sounds these old chairs make. Hence, I hope for a set of chair socks.

Donating to this project will not only help improve and increase my students’ attention span and focus, but it will ultimately help to increase their understanding and art making.

The more my students can focus on their work, the more they learn. Please help my artists!
