Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

There is nothing more disturbing than the screeching of chairs during silent stamina reading time. We all now what it feels like to get lost in a fairytale, be completely engrossed in a science fiction and suddenly your thinking is interrupted by a loud screech!

These enthusiastic, eager learners consist of special needs and English language learners coming from low-income, impoverished families with challenging backgrounds.

They are kind, respectful young individuals who need frequent encouragement and stimulation in their learning. They try so hard to learn, participate, and to succeed despite their learning abilities. My students function at different levels and this makes it difficult for them to grasp many concepts of math. Our inner city school is 100% free lunch with very little resources.

My Project

My students will use the chair socks to eliminate the disturbing noises that occur from merely getting up, or adjusting one's chair. The chair socks will help us to maintain a functional, engaged classroom without the distraction. Reading time is so important in a child's life, and it should be disturbance free. There is nothing harder than interacting with the wonderful characters you are meeting in your book, and then all that you have read is lost....because some slightly moved in class. Our environment deserves to be calm and quiet when we read.

Your donation of these chair socks will improve student concentration and allow for more meaningful engagement.

When students are truly engaged, without disturbance, it allows so much learning to take place. You can help make this happen!
