Quiet Minds - Supporting Focus & Self-Regulation in the Classroom

Help me give my students tools to help them regulate at school. Sensory overload happens frequently at the middle school level for students so noise cancelling headphones with a cognitive break helps to increase learning outcomes.

My Project

In classrooms, students face numerous distractions that can interfere with their ability to focus, learn, and regulate their emotions. This is especially true for students with:

ADHD)

Sensory sensitivities

Autism Spectrum Disorders

Anxiety or trauma backgrounds

Even neurotypical students benefit from occasional quiet and creative time to reset and refocus during long academic days.

This project proposes two specific tools:

Noise-Cancelling Headphones

*Reduce auditory distractions in classrooms and shared learning spaces

*Help students focus during independent work, reading, testing, or digital lessons

*Provide a calming tool during periods of overstimulation

*Support students with sensory processing needs, as part of inclusive education

Sticker-by-Number Activity Books

*Offer a calming, screen-free activity during breaks or as a self-regulation strategy

*Promote fine motor skills, number recognition, and attention to detail

*Encourage creativity and self-expression

*Serve as a non-disruptive activity for early finishers or students needing a brain break

Together, these tools help create a more inclusive, supportive, and productive classroom for all learners.
