Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are great kids who are often growing up in less than ideal circumstances.

They are a fabulous group of individuals that need help to ensure a wonderful elementary experience.

Many of the students come from broken homes and they witness violence in their streets. My school has many students living in poverty, a high level of students receive special education services, and English is not the first language of a large group of students. Too many days the students come to school not dressed in school uniforms that are warm enough. They wear the same short sleeved shirt every day because they do not have long sleeved shirts, sweaters, or sweatshirts to wear during the cold months. Fortunately, most students persevere through their hardships and are able to have an awesome school experience.

My Project

A regular school day can be very challenging in the best of circumstances. Each day my students bring their best to the virtual classroom to continue learning.

This fall our "new normal" is remote learning.

Students try to block out distractions, but it is not always possible when multiple "classrooms" are going on in the same household. Headphones will enable my students to continue learning in a quieter atmosphere. The iPad will provide endless variety by giving me the opportunity to use apps that are educational and interesting. Keeping a student's attention on Zoom everyday is challenging!

Even though we may not be physically together every day this year, our learning still continues.
